An Act to amend the Civil List Act 1968.

(11 November 1981)

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

  1. Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Civil List Amendment Act 1981, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Civil List Act 1968 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

(2) This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of August 1981.

  1. Salary of the Prime Minister

Section 4 of the principal Act (as amended by section 3 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1978-79) is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) the words "fifteen thousand dollars", and substituting the words "sixteen thousand eight hundred dollars".

  1. Salary of Deputy Prime Minister

Section 20I of the principal Act (as enacted by section 3 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1975) is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) (as amended by section 4(3) of the Civil List Amendment Act 1980) the words "twelve thousand five hundred dollars", and substituting the words "fourteen thousand dollars".

  1. Salaries of Ministers

Section 5 of the principal Act (as amended by section 5 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1980) is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) the words "twelve thousand dollars", and substituting the words "thirteen thousand four hundred and forty dollars".

  1. Salary of Leader of the Opposition

Section 12 of the principal Act (as substituted by section 6 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1980) is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) the expression"$8,500", and substituting the expression"$9,520".

  1. Salary of the Speaker

Section 10 of the principal Act (as amended by section 7 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1980) is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of subsection (1) the words "ten thousand dollars", and substituting the words "eleven thousand two hundred dollars".

  1. Salary of Assistants to Ministers

Section 20D of the principal Act (as substituted by section 9 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1980) is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) the expression"$8,500", and substituting the expression $9,520",

  1. Salaries of Members

Section 13 of the principal Act (as amended by section 10 of the Civil List Amendment Act 1980) is hereby amended by omitting the words "six thousand five hundred dollars", and substituting the words "seven thousand two hundred and eighty dollars".

  1. Repeals

The enactments specified in the Schedule to this Act are hereby repealed.
