An Act to bring into effect certain enactments

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the Legislation Commencement Act 2007.

2. Date of entry into force of specified enactments - The enactments listed in the Schedule shall be deemed to have come into force -

(a) in the case of Acts, 30 days after the date of assent; and

(b) in the case of Regulations, 30 days after the date of making;

notwithstanding that no Orders in Executive Council as to commencement were made, and notwithstanding that no notification of commencement was given in the Gazette.

3. Electoral Act 1966 - For the avoidance of doubt it is hereby declared and enacted that the Electoral Act 1966 was repealed by the Electoral Act 2004.

4. Local Government Electoral Regulation. - It is hereby declared and enacted that the Local Government Electoral Regulations 1968 shall continue in force as if made under the Rarotonga Local Government Act 1977.
