An Act to amend the Prisons Act 1967

(11 November 1981)

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Prisons Amendment Act 1981 and shall be read together with and be deemed part of the Prisons Act 1967 (hereinafter referred to as "the Principal Act")

2. Interpretation

Section 2 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by –

(1) Deleting the words ""Minister" means the Minister of Justice" and substituting therefore the words ""Minister" means the Minister Responsible for Corrective Services"
(2) Deleting the expression "Secretary for Justice" and its definition

3. Director of Corrective Services

Subject to subsection (2) of Section 2 of this Act, the Principal Act is further amended by deleting the words "Secretary of Justice" wherever they appear and substituting therefore the words "Director of Corrective Services"
