An Act to amend the Prisons Act 1967

(6 September 1996

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Prisons Amendment Act 1995-96 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Prisons Act 1967 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

2. Interpretation

Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the word "Minister" and its definition (as inserted by the Prisons Amendment Act 1981) and substituting the following:

""Minister" means the Minister of Justice"

3. Secretary of Justice

The principal Act is hereby further amended by deleting the words "Director of Corrective Services" (wherever these words are inserted by the Prisons Amendment Act 1981) and substituting the words "Secretary of Justice".

4. Repeal

The Prisons Amendment Act 1981 is hereby repealed.

This Act is administered by the Ministry of Justice.
