An Act to amend the Religious Organisations Restrictions Act 1975

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Religious Organisations Restrictions Amendment Act 1994 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Religious Organisations Restrictions Act 1975 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

2. Restrictions on establishment of religious organisations

Section 3 of the principal Act is amended, by adding the following proviso -

"Provided that the Minister shall not withhold approval for the establishment of any religious organisation unless satisfied that such establishment would be contrary to local customs and practices, public safety, order or morals, or the general welfare or the security of the Cook Islands."

This Act is administered by the Department of Justice.
