An Act to amend the Waterfront Industry Act 1973-74

1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Waterfront Industry Amendment Act 1989 and shall be read with and deemed part of the Waterfront Industry Act 1973-74 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

2. Powers of the Commission

The Principal Act is amended by adding after Section 21, the following new section -

"21A Donations for charitable and other purposes
The Commission may, with the written approval of the Minister, make donations to charitable, sporting, and other organisations whose objects are for the benefit of the community generally. Provided that the sum total of all donations in any financial year shall not exceed 25 per cent of the net audited profit of the Commission for the preceding financial year."

This Act is administered by the Department of Trade, Labour and Transport.
