Insurance Act (Amendment) Decree 1990

DECREE NO. 32

INSURANCE ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE 1990

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Fiji and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree:

Short title

l. This Decree may be cited as the Insurance Act (Amendment) Decree, 1990.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree unless the context otherwise requires the Insurance Act means the "principal Act."

Section 4 amended

3. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended-

(a) by inserting in subsection (1) after the word "insurer" appearing in the second line the words "other than reinsurance business"; and

(b) By deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-section (1) and substituting a colon and inserting the following proviso thereafter:

"Provided that all appointments made prior to the date of coming into force of this Decree are deemed to he valid as if they had been made under sub-section (1) of section 4."
