MARINE ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1989

A DECREE TO AMEND THE MARINE ACT, 1986

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji, I, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Marine Act (Amendment) Decree, 1989.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree, the "principal Act" means the Marine Act, 1986.

Section 227 amended

3. Subsection (2)(h) of section 227 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "1 year" and replacing such by "2 years".

Section 228 amended

4. Sub-section (2)(b) of section 228 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "1 year" and replacing such by "2 years".

Coming into force

5. This Decree shall come into force on 15 August 1989.
