REPUBLIC OF FIJI MILITARY FORCES ACT (AMENDMENT) PROMULGATION 2007

(PROMULGATION NO. 24 OF 2007)

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon the Interim Government, and upon the exercise of the my own deliberate judgment as President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands as to what is best and good for the people of Fiji, and by the executive authority of the State in accordance with section 85 of the Constitution and such other powers as may appertain, and with the advice of Cabinet, I Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, make this Promulgation-

TO AMEND THE REPUBLIC OF FIJI MILITARY FORCES ACT

Short title

1. This Promulgation may be cited as the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Act (Amendment) Promulgation 2007.

Interpretation

2. In this Promulgation, unless the context otherwise requires –

“Principal Act” means the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Act;

Section 42 amended

3. Section 42 paragraph (a) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting “;” and inserting the paragraph “except for the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces;”

New Section inserted

4. After section 42 of the Principal Act, the following new section is inserted-

“Remuneration of the Commander

43.-The pay and allowance of the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces shall be determined by the President, following consultation with the Attorney General.”
