Cabinet makes the following Regulations under section 102(2)(b) of the Births Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 2017:

  1. Citation

These Regulations may be cited as the Births Deaths and Marriages Registration (Change of Name) (Amendment) Regulations 2019.


  1. Commencement

These Regulations come into effect on the day they are notified in the Gazette.

  1. Amendment of Births Deaths and Marriages Registration (Change of Name) Regulations 2018

The Births Deaths and Marriages Registration (Change of Name) Regulations 2018 are amended by the provisions of these Regulations.

  1. Amendment of Regulation 10

Regulation 10 is deleted and substituted as follows:

‘10 Birth certificate to be issued

The Registrar shall issue a birth certificate in Form 7 of the Schedule to a person whose application to change his or her name is accepted and registered.’

  1. Amendment of Regulation 12

Regulation 12 is amended by deleting the words ‘Form 7’ and substituting with ‘Form 8’.

  1. Amendment to Schedule

The Schedule is amended by:

(a) inserting a new Form 7; and

(b) renumbering Forms 7 and 8 in correct numerical order.
