Legal Practitioners Act 1973 - Qualification of Pleaders Order 1995

REPUBLIC OF NAURU

IN THE MATTER OF THE LEGAL PRACTITIONERS ACT 1973


ORDER UNDER SECTION 11(b)


QUALIFICATION OF PLEADERS


22nd March, 1995


PURSUANT to section 11(b) of the Legal Practitioners Act 1973 I, GAVEN JOHN DONNE, Chief Justice HEREBY PRESCRIBE that the qualification by examination under the said section for admission as Pleaders under the said Act shall be as follows:


1. For admission on the Roll of Pleaders of Nauru, a Certificate in Law (Criminal) granted by the University of the South Pacific shall be required to be held by applicants.


2. For the right of audience to practice in the District Court a pleader must be the holder of a Certificate in Law (Criminal) of the said University of the South Pacific.


3. For the right of audience to practice in the Supreme Court a pleader must be the holder of a Certificate in Law (Criminal) and a Certificate in Law (Civil) of the said University of the Pacific.


This order shall not apply to any person who prior to this day has commenced a course of examinations prescribed in any prior Order and has qualified in part thereunder provided such course is completed in compliance with such prior Order.
