NUKU'ALOFA AIRPORT (WATER)

Act No. 5 of 1954

AN ACT TO DEFINE AND FOR THE CONTROL OF NUKU'ALOFA AIRPORT (WATER)

[17th August, 1954]

  1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Nuku'alofa Airport (Water) Act.

  1. Area designated as Nuku'alofa Airport (Water)

The area described in the Schedule hereto shall be the area in which aircraft requiring to land by water shall land and shall be known as the Nuku'alofa Airport (Water).

  1. Offence to land elsewhere.

The captain or other person for the time being in charge of an aircraft as hereinbefore described who shall land an aircraft in any area other than that described in the Schedule hereto shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be lible to a fine not exceeding $200.

SCHEDULE


THE AREA

Commencing at the northern extremity of the main wharf then by lines bearing

127 degrees to the northern extremity of a pier called the Yellow or American pier thence
101 degrees to a beacon in Lat. 21 degrees 08.2 minutes South Long 175 degrees 10.9 minutes West (approx.) thence
along the seaward edge of the Tongatapu fringing reef to a position in Lat. 21 degrees 08.2 minutes South 175 degrees 09.5 minutes West (approx.) thence
341 degrees to a white beacon on Pangaimotu Island in Lat. 21 degrees 07.6 minutes South Long. 175 degrees 09.7 minutes West, thence
315 degrees to a beacon in Lat. 21 degrees 07 minutes South Long. 175 degrees 10.25 minutes West, thence
014 degrees to the S.W. end off Fafa island in Lat. 21 degrees 05.3 minutes South Long. 175 minutes 09.8 minutes West (approx.) thence
294 degrees to a black can buoy in Lat. 21 degrees 03.8 minutes South Long. 175 degrees 13.3 minutes West (approx.) thence
270 degrees to a beacon in Lat. 21 degrees 03.8 minutes South Long. 175 degrees 14.8 minutes West (approx.) thence along the seaward edge of the Tongatapu fringing reef to the point of commencement as the main wharf.
All bearings are true bearings.

NOTE - Aerial navigators are warned that within the area described in the Schedule hereto are a number of reefs which dry out to shallow depths. These are shown on the British Admiralty Chart No. 2363.

Navigators are warned that there are a number of radio masts and tall trees within the township seashore frontage between longitude 175 degrees 11 minutes West and 175 degrees 15 minutes West and other places having a maximum altitude of 150 feet.
