ELECTORAL PROVISIONS (PARLIAMENT) (AMENDMENT) ACT 2018

AN ACT TO AMEND THE ELECTORAL PROVISION (PARLIAMENT) ACT AND PROVIDE THAT A PERSON'S ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INDEGINOUS COMMUNITIY OF THE ELECTORAL DISTRICT MUST BE VERIFIED BY THE FALEKAUPULE

Commencement [13th April 2018]

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the ELECTORAL PROVISIONS (PARLIAMENT) (AMENDMENT) Act 2018.

2 Commencement

This Act shall come into operation on such date as the Minister by notice appoints.

3 Purpose of the Bill

The purpose of this Act is to amend the Electoral Provisions (Parliament) Act.

4 Amendment to Section 5 of the Electoral Provisions (Parliament) Act

Section 5 (3) of the Electoral Provision (Parliament) Act is amended as follows:

"(iv) subject to paragraph (i), (ii) and (iii) of this subsection, a person's active participation in the activities of the indigenous community of the electoral district must be verified by the Falekaupule."
