NATIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT (COMPENSATION AMENDMENT) ACT 2014

AN ACT TO AMEND THE NATIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT ACT AND PROVIDE A CLEARER PROCESS FOR COMPENSATING VICTIMS FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY A DISASTER.

Commencement [1st January, 2015]

1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the National Disaster Management (Compensation Amendment) Act 2014.

2 Commencement
This Act shall commence on the day the Minister by notice appoints.

3 Amendment
(a) Section 32 Claims for Compensation or Assistance Repeal and replace with 'Any person who has sustained any loss or damage from a disaster may request the government for assistance.'

(b) Section 33 Outstanding Claims - repeal section in its entirety.

(c) Renumber all sections accordingly.
