THE IMMIGRATION ACT 2004 SECTION 14(1)(2
- PUBLIC NOTICE


In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(1)(2) of the Immigration Act 2004, the Cabinet of the Independent State of Samoa by a decision recorded on the 8th day of February 2006 F.K.(06)05 determined as follows:


(a) that the maximum number of Permanent Resident Permits to be granted by the Minister Responsible for Immigration for the year beginning 1st July 2005 and ending 30th June 2006 be 15 ('the Quota');


(b) the Quota is to be allocated as follows:


(i) 12 Permits are to be made available to persons normally resident in Samoa; and


(ii) 3 Permits are to be made available to persons normally resident outside Samoa;


(c) the dependents of successful applicants who are under the age of 21 are not to be included in the count for the Quota and will be entitled to receive Permanent Resident Permits;


(d) the following eligibility criteria will be considered in the granting of any application made for a Permanent Resident Permit


(i) Age;

(ii) Employment history;

(iii) Professional qualifications/skills;

(iv) Language skills;

(v) Planned activity in Samoa;

(vi) Period of residence in Samoa;

(vii) Health;

(viii) Character; and

(ix) Connections to Samoa.


(e) all applications for Permanent Resident Permits for the year 2005 - 2006 must be submitted by 31st May 2006.
